SUMMARY
----------
If you think the C7 Corvette is anything less than world class, it's been a while since you took a good look at America's favorite sports car. From strip to show, it's hard to find a better multi-purpose platform than a new Corvette. And when you combine 460 horsepower with paddle-shifted gears and an agile, Nurburgring-proven chassis, you get effortless performance that'll match pretty much anything on the road. This 2014 Stingray 2LT is a 1,089-mile survivor that's been decked in traditional red and white aesthetics. And if you enjoy going REALLY fast and turning a lot of heads, it's a modern Detroit marvel that's just your style!
BODYWORK/TRIM
With mere break-in miles on its bright digital odometer, this showroom-fresh Chevy is an as-new garage queen that's assembly line perfect in virtually every way. The car's chiseled profile wears a traditional coat of Arctic White 2-stage, which does an exceptional job of highlighting Metallic Black trim. That trim begins with a chrome-laced grille, progresses through a sculpted convertible cowl and flows into a small, blade-like spoiler. Cool Stingray emblems, heated power mirrors, a remote power top, and a cool combination of HID and LED lighting mix tasteful form with convenient function. And it all adds up to one seriously capable sports car that'll show with the finest classics and run with the fastest challengers!
ENGINE
Like its incredible appearance, this Stingray's engine highlights classic Chevy appeal with a virtual lifetime of technological improvement. Lift the carbon fiber hood and you'll find GM's latest and greatest LT1: an all-aluminum small block that twists a stout 460 horsepower into an impressive 465 lb./ft. of tire-shredding torque. The newest incarnation of Chevrolet's venerable mill utilizes Active Fuel Management, continuously variable valve timing and direct fuel injection to provide a reliable mix of Main Street efficiency and world class performance. A perfect amount of oxygen flows from a hood-fed filter element through a familiar GM throttle body to a lightweight composite intake. That oxygen mixes with fuel under high-flow cylinder heads that were freshly engineered for the GM Gen V family. When those heads open, spent gases roar through hydroformed headers, close-coupled catalytic converters and aggressive, vacuum-actuated mufflers. There's a redesigned cooling system that, like the aforementioned heads, is unique to this ilk of small block. And all those components happily thrive on everyday pump gas!
DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION
For the most part, Corvettes have always been great track cars, and this slick drop-top benefits from decades of engineering prowess and a few tricks learned by Chevrolet's own Le Mans race team. The car's wide fenders frame a 5-mode independent suspension that benefits from GM's familiar Active Handling Stability Control. At the center of the floors, a paddle-shifted 6L80 6-speed transaxle engages a limited-slip differential and sporty, 3.42 gears. Speed-sensitive variable-ratio power rack-and-pinion steering ensures turn-in is light and constantly engaging. At the corners, a standard antilock braking system clamps red 4-piston calipers on 12.5 and 13.5-inch vented rotors. Optional multi-mode exhaust takes the soundtrack from soothing to brutal with the stomp of a foot. And power pounds the pavement via optional chrome aluminum wheels, which spin 245/40ZR18 Michelin Pilot Super Sports in front of 285/35ZR19 Michelin Pilot Super Sports.
INTERIOR
Behind the doors you'll find Adrenaline Red leather that balances excellent convenience with a whole lot of style. The car's 8-way power-adjustable seats are heated and ventilated. A driver-oriented dash hangs digital telemetry between a color Head Up Display and Chevy MyLink infotainment, which pipes Navigation, Bluetooth, MP3s and XM Radio through an optional Bose 10-speaker sound system. Below that dash, a broad console balances a red-stitched shifter on clean carpet and snazzy Corvette sills. In front of the driver, a leather-wrapped steering wheel caps an optional tilt and telescoping column. And naturally, all the luxuries you'd expect in a high dollar sports car are present and accounted for including: OnStar, cruise control, dual-zone climate control, Universal Home Remote, keyless entry with pushbutton start, power windows, power door locks, an auto-dimming mirror, and an advanced theft deterrent system.
